I'm a drummer so the beat always comes first in the creation of a song. MY USUAL PROCESS IS TO find/record the samples then distort theM. whether that's real drum sounds or hitting kitchen utensils against my table i will use it. I LOVE THE SOUND OF DISTORTED DRUMS, IT JUST GIVES IT THe AGGRESSION THAT I NEED TO CONVEY THE EMOTION IN THE SONG. the bassline is also a super important feature of the track. it's a kontakt factory synth that i found and modified to suit the song. it needed to be a constant throbbing bassline that sucks you in from the get go. it sounds arpeggiated but it's actually played in at slightly different velocities then quantised. the artists I was listening to during the creation of this track range from nine inch nails to billie eilish.
