"Me & Melancholy, the elegant synthpop project by producer Peter Erhling, achieves another electronic pop hit with '24 Hour Square', one of the newest singles from his recent new album 'IllusioVeri', which in its totality, is another complete success in its cohesive flow between track to track, maintaining a very distinctive electropop flavor with minimalistic nuances that Peter is known for from his previous electronic productions under this project.

We decided to highlight '24 Hour Square' since it's one the strongest tracks in the album, and don't get us wrong, the whole album is exquisite in its electropop nature and personality-wise is a must-listen in its fullness by every electropop lover.

But since we focus on specific tracks in these articles, this song is an amazing presentation of modern electropop, Peter doesn't disappoint imprinting his sophisticated type of catchiness in his synth melodies and sometimes infusion of future-pop elements.

The vocals in this track are very melodic and contagious, sometimes even reminiscent of the earlier 90's work by the duo Electronic (Bernard Sumner and Johnny Marr), excellent track overall by Me & Melancholy, and one of his best to date.

The full album 'Illusio Veri' is recommended to listen to at least once, synthpop lovers should find a joyful and dark musical ride, and please don't forget to support Me & Melancholy on his social channels and music profiles!

INSIDE THE TRACK: [artist's commentary]
me-melancholy-24-hour-square
I most often write dark or melancholic songs but sometimes I try to write something more cheerful. I’ve had an idea to write a song called 24 H Square for a long time and actually wrote one maybe 2 years ago, but I never felt it was good to realease. So during this winter I was a few times in Spain and during one of those stays I started writing a 24 H Square version 2 and this time I really liked it so much that I actually released it as the third single from the album. The 24 hour square is a place in Spain I used to visit a lot when I was younger and careless to party all night. I think you could arrive at 24 something to hang out in some of the bars to wait for one of the discos to open at 2 or 3 and then you headed home at 8 or 9. Now when I am old and kind of responsible I can look back at those days and feel that it was lots of fun and is nice to have many good (and sometimes bad) memories from that time, but I don’t want to go back there and am happy where I am today. Anyhow, I wanted to write a song that was a bit more uplifting without being too ”radio friendly”. Actually I wrote a first version on my phone in Spain using Korg Gadget, it was not complete but kind of a draft at least. I think I actually used a bass from Gadget in the final version but mixed with some other sounds. I have previously got rid of most hardware synths ad I though I was so much more productive using mostly software synths. But one thing that has been pretty annoying with that was that you pretty soon run out of eigther CPU or memory and you get this latency that kills your creativity. So during this winter I got a few new hardware synths and it was such a nice feeling to have some physical buttons and knobs to move around. I think this even made the whole process a lot faster as you could actually hear every note in real-time without having to bounce tracks and tweak. This track was actually one of the first I wrote and got all ready on this album.
